Sailing regatta “Ladoga-2005”
The crew of the Viking-Nevo club is the winner of the regatta “Ladoga-2005”!
Date: July 1 — 5, 2005
Place: Ladoga Lake, north-western region
At the beginning of July 2005 the sailing boats regatta “Ladoga-2005” was organized in the north-western region of the Ladoga Lake. The sport-expeditionary club “Viking-Nevo” took part in the regatta by two trimarans. The Smolensk crew consisting of Olga Titova and Yuriy Kryuchkov showed the best time after the three races by trimaran “Three In One”!
Regatta’s goals:
- noticing the public attention to the Northern Ladoga area as the place for aquatic sports and active rest,
- developing the boats and equipment constructions and the tactics of the effective and safety coastal sailing by small boats,
- popularizing of yacht sports and healthy living.
Organizers:
Regatta is holding by “Ilaks” company and ICMF association with support of the St.-Petersburg Sailing Union and administration of the Priozersk region.
Sailing regatta “Konakovo-2005”
Date: August 10 — 13, 2005
Place: the Volga river, Konakovo
During 10-13 of August the IV Upper Volga sailing regatta for the prize of governor of Tverskaya Region was organized in Konakovo. 102 sailing yachts from Moscow, Tver, Dubna, Lubercy, Obninsk, Cherkassy, Krasnogorsk, Konakovo took part in the competition. The sport-expeditionary club “Viking-Nevo” competed with the experienced yachtsmen in the sectional vessels class where 53 crews started at all.
The density of the yachts on the start line and the strong fluent on the Volga fairway became as a big surprise for the Viking-Nevo crews which took part only in one sailing regatta on the Ladoga Lake till that moment.
As a result after five races Alexandr Yudanov and Olga Vasilkova took the sixth place by the catamaran “Veselyi”, Sergey Suhoruchenkov and Yuriy Kryuchkov became the 14th by the catamaran “Nevo” and Olga Titova with Tatiana Kochkareva — the 16th. Every Viking-Nevo crew got many prizes: windgliders (sailing boards), big plates with the symbols of regatta and diplomas. The special cup for the best female crew was presented to Olga Titova and Tatiana Kochkareva.
It is pleasant to say that all the boats of the Viking-Nevo club are made by the club-members themselves under the direction of experienced shipbuilder Alexandr Yudanov. The financial support in boats building and participating in regattas was provided by Smolensk Council of Russian Defence and Sports Technical Organization (ROSTO), Educational and Youth Department of Smolensk Region, Gazenergoprom Bank and firm “Chepikov”.
